Common Plays LLC, operator of RarePause.
RarePause is operated by Common Plays LLC, a Maine limited liability company.
Two different agreements live on this page. Sections marked for organizations apply to a member organization hosting its community here under a separate written agreement with us; where that agreement and these terms disagree, the signed agreement wins. Sections marked for members apply to anyone who registers or attends.
RarePause is software for running events, membership, and community discussion. We provide the platform; each organization decides what happens inside its own community.
RarePause is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice. Sessions, member posts, and everything else on the platform are the views of the people who wrote them, not ours, and are not a substitute for care from a qualified clinician. Nothing here should be used to make a treatment decision without talking to your own doctor. In an emergency, contact emergency services rather than this platform.
You must be at least 13 years old to create a RarePause account. We do not yet check age at sign-up, so today this is a rule rather than an enforced control, and we are building the check.
A child under 13 takes part through a parent or guardian, who holds the account and adds the child as a named attendee on their registration. Section 15 of the Privacy policy says what we collect in the meantime, and describes one way a child can currently end up invited to make their own account.
Members own what they write. Organizations own their member lists and the content they publish to their own community. Speakers keep the rights to their sessions.
We take only the license we need to run the service: to store, display, stream, and back up content so the platform works for the community it belongs to. Where content survives deletion, such as a question inside a recording or a registration record kept as a membership record, the license lasts as long as that content does, and for no other purpose. The Privacy policy describes what survives and why. We take no license to reuse anyone's content for marketing, for another organization, or to train models.
You can close your account at any time by asking us: write to help@rarepause.com. The Privacy policy describes what is removed and what survives.
We can suspend or remove a member who breaks section 6, and an organization can remove a member from its own community. If we do it, we will tell you why, and you can reply to that decision at the same address.
Each organization moderates its own community, and staff can decline a post, remove content, or remove a member. Today, every question a member submits during a session is reviewed by community staff before other attendees see it. Not every surface we add will work that way; if we add one where posts appear immediately, we will say so on that surface and update this section before it is available, not after.
Do not use RarePause to harass anyone, to sell treatments or products to members, to present yourself as a clinician when you are not, to share another member's health information outside the community, to collect member details in bulk, or to break the law.
Common Plays does not routinely moderate community content and will not overrule an organization's decisions about its own members, though our administrators retain the technical ability to act. We intervene only where the platform itself, another community, the safety of a person, or the law is at stake.
Organizations may record their sessions and publish a link afterwards, so members who could not attend live can watch. Whether a session is recorded is the organization's decision, not ours. Today the platform itself does not capture or store session audio or video. If we add a feature that does, such as live captions or a transcript, we will update this section before it is available, not after. Organizations are responsible for telling speakers and obtaining their agreement before they present; we do not collect that agreement in the product.
In a session, you are audience only. Your camera and microphone are never on unless you turn them on yourself, and in a session today there is no way to do so. You cannot be seen or heard by other attendees. What is captured from you is limited to what you deliberately submit: a question, a reaction, or a poll vote. If we add a session format where attendees can speak, joining it will be your choice each time. A question may appear in the recording if it is read aloud or shown on screen, with your name shown alongside it.
A booth appointment is the exception to that. If you book an appointment at an exhibitor's booth, you join a video room run by a third-party service, using a link the organizing community enters. It is not our software, we have no contract covering it, and we cannot promise you it is not recorded. You control whether your camera and microphone are on. Booking is always your choice, and nothing reaches an exhibitor unless you book. The Privacy policy describes what the exhibitor receives.
Each organization decides how long its recordings stay up here, and can remove one on request from a speaker or a member who appears in it. Recordings are intended for the members of the organization that ran the event. There is a limit to that: recordings are hosted on YouTube, and the access controls on a given recording are whatever the organization set there. We do not independently enforce them, and a recording link can be reachable by someone who is not a member.
If we ship one-to-one peer support conversations between members, taking part will be opt-in, both people will have to agree, and those conversations will not be recorded. We will update this section before that feature is available, not after.
For members: attending is free unless the organizing community charges for a particular event, or charges for access to its recording afterwards. Either price is shown before you pay. Today there is no membership fee, and nothing you have to install: RarePause runs in your browser, and you can add it to your device as an app if you prefer.
Payments go to the organizing community's own payment account, so that community, not Common Plays, is the merchant for your transaction. Refunds and cancellations are its decision and are handled by it.
For organizations: fees, term, and payment schedule are set in your written agreement with us. We price per organization rather than per member, so growing your community does not raise your bill.
We do not publish an uptime percentage, because we are not yet in a position to measure or credit one honestly. What we do commit to is this: scheduled live events get priority over all other work, and we aim to be reachable while your event is running.
Common Plays is a very small company. Outside a live event, expect a response within one business day rather than within minutes. Maintenance that requires downtime is scheduled around known events. Where our software can tell that something did not save, it aims to say so rather than imply it recovered.
Either side can end an organization's agreement with the notice stated in it. On the way out, an organization gets its data: registration records, member lists, published content, and recordings.
Organizations can already export several things themselves as spreadsheets: registrations, event engagement, points and badges, and discount codes. A complete organization-level exit export, covering everything above, is produced by us manually on request within thirty days.
After the export is delivered and the notice period ends, we delete the organization's data from production systems, and from backups as those backups age out.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, and disputes are resolved in the state or federal courts located there.
The service is provided as it is. Because members discuss health, one limitation is stated here rather than buried: we are not responsible for decisions anyone makes based on something they read or heard on the platform. Limitation of liability, indemnities, and warranty disclaimers are set out in the organization agreement.
We will post material changes here with a new date, and notify organizations before those changes take effect. Previous versions stay available so you can see what changed. Continuing to use the platform after that date means the updated terms apply. Where a section describes how the platform works today, that description changes as the platform does, and we update this page when it happens. Questions go to help@rarepause.com.
